Today we’re reviewing the Acer Swift 1 SF114-32, an excellent option with a good design. Lets check out the features, battery performance and pros and cons of this popular laptop.
Table of Contents
Design & Build Quality
Let’s start with the design of Acer Swift 1, which is surely one of the main highlights of the laptop. Normally, budget laptops come with boring and dull design, but it’s not the case with this laptop. Acer Swift 1 comes with a very unique design where the company has used the combination of black and silver, which gives the laptop a very distant look. The laptop also doesn’t seem cheap from any angle, which is plus.
When it comes to build quality, there are some mixed thoughts here. The laptop comes with a solid aluminum chassis, which is of high quality, and its sturdy enough to handle the daily business. We also tested the hinge, which is very well built, and it’s tight enough to hold the display pretty well. The area where we have the reservations is the Lid area, where we found some flux. We think that if the higher pressure is applied there, its display can get damage. So, if you get this laptop, make sure to get a reliable cover so that the lid won’t get too much pressure.
Another thing which is a bit concerning here is that the bezels around the display have the plastic build, which is prone to scratches over time. We would have preferred the glass bezels, but we understand that Asus had to cut corners, and they did it on bezels. Overall, we don’t have many complaints about Acer Swift 1, and it surely has a great design & build quality considering its price tag.
- THIN, LIGHT and BETTER: The stylish black aluminium body weighs just 1.3kg and is less than 15mm thin, so you can easily carry it with you all day
- EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE: The Intel Pentium Silver CPU provides the IDEAL balance of power and efficiency, so everything keeps running smoothly in such a slim device
- VISIBLY STUNNING: The 14 Inch Full HD IPS screen combines incredibly sharp detail, vivid lifelike colours and wide viewing angles for a brilliant visual experience
- ALL-DAY BATTERY: The battery lasts up-to an better 17 hours on a single charge, allowing you to use it all day without having to worry about charging
- PLENTY OF STORAGE: With a 128GB SSD, you get plenty of room for all your apps, documents and media as well as lightning-fast performance
Display
Acer Swift 1 comes with a high-quality HD LED Display with In-plane switching (IPS). This technology basically allows better viewing angles, which means you will get a better angle, no matter where you see from.
The display has a max brightness level of around 282 Nits. It’s bright enough to be used indoors, but you will get trouble viewing it in broad daylight. Also, the overall color accuracy is pretty good, and it will work well for casual work. However, if you want a display with great color accuracy, then Acer Swift 1 is not for you. The overall display quality is really good, especially considering its price tag.
Performance
Acer Swift 1 is not a work-horse laptop like Huawei MateBook D15, but it can handle daily tasks. It comes with the Intel Pentium Silver N5000 processor with 4 GB of RAM, which is more than enough to watch Netflix and casual browsing.
However, this configuration is not powerful enough to handle professional software such as Adobe Premiere or Photoshop. You can play casual games such as Candy Crush Saga, but don’t expect this laptop to handle the AAA gaming titles such as Call of Duty: WWII or Dota 2.
Also, when it comes to thermal performance, Acer Swift 1 did a good job. During our tests, we got a maximum temperature of 39.7 degrees centigrade and an average temperature of 25 degrees centigrade under normal usage. Acer Swift 1 also comes with decent speakers, and they can produce quality sound. The speakers produce a very crisp Highs, but we noticed deviations in the lows and mids. The overall sound quality is really good for its price.
Overall, Acer Swift 1 is a decent laptop, and it’s a solid option for you if you want a laptop for casual things. If you want a laptop for professional works such as editing, or animation, Acer Swift 1 is not the right option.
Battery Performance
Let’s talk about the Battery performance of Acer Swift 1 because it’s one of the major areas where it truly shines. During our tests, Acer Swift 1 offered an average battery life of 10 hours, which is remarkable. One of the reasons why Acer Swift 1 offers such good performance is the basic processor, which doesn’t consume a lot of power, and As a result, you get great battery life.
